Fatal three-vehicle crash under investigation in Grant Twp.

GRANT TWP. — A 41-year-old woman was killed and four others were injured Monday evening following a three-vehicle crash at a rural intersection, authorities said.

Deputies with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of Wildcat Road and Burtch Road shortly before 5 p.m. Oct. 5 after receiving reports of a major collision.

According to preliminary investigation results, a white Dodge Journey was traveling southbound on Wildcat Road when it entered the intersection and struck a westbound black Jeep Liberty. The impact sent the Dodge Journey into a second collision with a grey Chevrolet Impala traveling northbound on Wildcat Road.

The 41-year-old female driver of the Dodge Journey suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead. Her identity is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Tri-Hospital EMS transported two individuals to a local hospital for treatment, while two others involved received treatment for minor injuries at the scene.

Investigators said they do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.

The crash remains under active review by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team.
