School bells ring next week in Yale district
YALE — Yale Public Schools will welcome students back on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Students will dive into the year with a three-day week, then will have back-to-back four-day weeks leading up to Labor Day weekend, with Friday, Sept. 4, through Monday, Sept. 7, off.
Yale Superintendent Kurt Sutton is looking forward to another school year, his sixth as top administrator.
“It’s been a busy summer around the district, making repairs and improvements,” he said at a recent school board meeting.
“We are excited about staff returning and we’ve had great meetings at all buildings. Everyone is ready to go pretty much, and excited for another school year. Our maintenance and custodial staff have done a lot of great work. We are all looking forward to having students back in the building and implementing our education plan. We’re hopeful for another great year at Yale.”
Sutton said some of the projects recently completed include the HVAC systems in the lower-level buildings, made possible by the most recent district bond. Sinking funds were also used for other work in the district.
Yale High School Bulldog Day was on Aug. 18, the Junior High open house is Aug. 19, and parent open house for elementary students will be Aug. 20.
New teachers began reporting on Aug. 17. The final school day in the district, for both teachers and students, is June 4. According to the school calendar, first semester exams are slated for Dec. 16-17, before receiving two full weeks off for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
