The Novel Page: “The Librarian of Crooked Lane”
“The Librarian of Crooked Lane” by C.J. Archer
Sylvia Ashe is a journalist who loses her position after World War I ends in this first book of “The Glass Library Series.”
She soon meets the wealthy Gabe Glass, a man who seems to be unnaturally lucky. Together, they investigate an art heist while Sylvia battles her growing feelings for Gabe.
This story offers an interesting twist on historical fiction through the existence of magicians connected to various materials, including silver and oil paint. These magicians possess gifts that make their creations irresistible, although some are not even aware that they have magical abilities.
I am still not entirely sure how I feel about the book overall, but I am intrigued enough to find out what happens in the next installment. I recommend it for late-teen and adult readers.
