Fall sports teams prepare for fall season
YALE — You may have encountered runners alongside the roadways around the Yale area in recent weeks.
Cross-country team members are among those who have been working on conditioning skills as another fall season of high school sports at Yale gets underway.
Along with the football program, volleyball, cross country, golf, tennis and soccer teams are preparing for season openers as soon as this week. The varsity and junior varsity volleyball squads are preparing for season opening tournaments including one at Mt. Morris on Aug. 20. The Yale spikers host their own tournament on Aug. 22 before hitting the road for matches at Lakeview and Grosse Pointe North the following two weeks.

Boys soccer opened their season this week when theory traveled to Elkton-Pigeon-Bayport on Aug. 13 and remained on the road when they ventured to North Branch on Aug. 24 for a match against the Broncos. They play their home opener two days later, hosting Macomb Lutheran North in a 4 p.m. match.
The Yale boys tennis team will hit the courts for their first match of the new season when they go to L’anse Creuse North on Aug. 18. They take on a talented Sandusky team on the Wolves home courts on August 21 and play two more road matches at Port Huron Northern (8-24) and Almont (8-25) before playing their first home match.
Yale’s girls golf team opens the season with two road matches at Macomb Lutheran North (8-21) and Richmond (Aug. 24) prior to hosting a BWAC Jamboree at Willow Tree golf course on Aug. 31.
