Lady Bulldog spikers begin this week
The 2026 volleyball season tips off Thursday for the Yale squad when they travel to Mt. Morris for an early morning tournament.
Coach Logan Clare is back for another season along the sidelines, guiding his squad through a rugged schedule that includes not only a tough Blue Water Area Conference but participating in top notch tournaments along the way.
After their Thursday opener, the Lady Bulldogs will host their own tournament, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The following week, the Yale squad will travel to Lakeview High School on Aug. 26 before traveling to Grosse Pointe North on Aug. 29. Yale opens BWAC competition on Sept. 10 when it hosts Almont.
Ten players fill Yale’s roster as they begin life after Sadie Dykstra, an All-BWAC and All-State athletic performer who has since graduated and is now attending the University of Michigan.
Adison Utter, Alissa Frazer, Ava Lafferty, Cece Ford, Hallie Johnson, Lydia Bucholtz, Madeline Sepsey, Olivia Coats, Olivia Runnals and Taylor Frazer will work together to try and make it a successful year of competition for the Lady Bulldogs.

Soccer
Meanwhile, on the soccer pitch, the Bulldogs played an early match at Elkton-Pigeon-Bayport according to their schedule before having a brief break and returning to action at North Branch Aug. 24.
Two days later, the Bulldogs will host their first game at home when they entertain Lutheran North in a 5 p.m. match. Yale will play its third match of the week, hosting Linden on Aug. 28.
Tennis
The boys tennis team swung into action Tuesday, traveling to L’Anse Creuse North and will travel to Sandusky to take on a talented Wolves squad in a 4 p.m. match Friday, Aug. 21.
The Bulldogs will play their first four matches on the road before a home match against league rival Croswell-Lexington.
Yale’s football team will travel to Marine City on Friday of this week to take on the Mariners in a pre-season scrimmage.
Coach Garrett Grundman’s squad will host Swartz Creek in Week 1 of their season on Thursday, Aug. 27, most likely the football team’s last season in Andrea Park.
School officials have decided to move their football games to the school campus at the high school track area, beginning in 2027.
Golf
The girls golf team will open its season on Friday at Lutheran High School.
The team will be at Richmond on Aug. 24 and then compete in an 18-hole mid-season tune-up at Holly Meadows on Aug. 25. The girls are coached by Shawn Wendorf.
