The Novel Page: “Change of Scene” by Mary Kay Andrews

“Change of Scene” by Mary Kay Andrews
This prequel novella to “Beach Town” is a perfect beach read that follows Greer Hennessy — a movie location scout — through a series of challenging events in her life.

The location Greer selected for the latest film she was hired to scout literally and figuratively goes down in flames. Will she be able to find work again?
I enjoyed this story more than I initially expected, it can be enjoyed even if the reader is not familiar with Beach Town.
The characters are well written, and the novella serves as a tribute to that best friend who shows up no matter what. It also explores the wonderful yet complex relationship between mother and daughter. I recommend this book for adult readers due to mature content.
