The Novel Page: “Threshing Day”

“Threshing Day” by Rebecca Yarros

Despite my consternation with the previous installment in Rebecca Yarros’ “The Empyrean Series,” I found myself drawn to this collection of 13 stories that take place on Threshing Day at Basgiath War College.

(Threshing Day is the dangerous trial when dragons choose which cadets they will bond with as riders.)

Readers are advised to finish “Onyx Storm” before beginning these tales.

Each story gives a unique perspective from some of the favorite characters in the series. The author has a gift for storytelling and the series is well-written, but it is very graphic in the ways of war and spicy content.

This is a collection I recommend for adult readers.

The series is currently in development to be turned into a TV series at Prime Video.
